In a dark woods
Where no man has felt time
A black rose stands
Whithin the moonshine
Its petals are ebony
The stalk a dark emerald
And the topaz thorns
Reflect the single moonray
The full moon becomes brighter
For just a moment
And then the black sky
Consumes the pearl
Ever so slowly
The eclipse goes on
And with every moment of darkness
The rose loses a petal
Every moment, every gem
Becomes back to earth
As soon as it hits the foilage
Of the forest floor
After the petals, the thorns fall
One by one, moment by moment
They set a spark as they collide
Shattering the emerald stalk
The full moon becomes black
For just a moment
And then the starlit sky
Spits out the pearl
Ever so slowly
The eclipse descends
And with every moment of light
An ivory petal begins to glow
After the petals, the leaves grow
One by one, moment by moment
Their color as green as silk
Eliminating the remains of the emerald
The stalk becomes as silk as the leaves
The petals are done growing
The white rose shines
Under the new full moon
Every night
With or without the moon
The Rose is a new source of life.
